Product Care
Product Care Guide
To keep your handcrafted pieces looking beautiful for years to come, please follow these simple care guidelines for each material type.
Glassware
Forest Glass Collection
Handcrafted Notice: Forest glass is sensitive to extreme temperatures. Not suitable for hot beverages, microwave, or freezer use.
- Washing: Hand washing with warm water and mild dish soap is strongly recommended.
- Dishwasher Use: If using a dishwasher, place items on the top rack using a gentle, warm cycle and mild detergent.
Ceramics, Porcelain & Stoneware
Chodsko Traditional Hand-Painted Ceramics
- Hand Wash Only: Wash gently using a soft sponge or cloth and mild soap. Never use steel wool or abrasive powders, which will scratch the delicate glaze.
- No Dishwasher or Microwave: High heat and harsh detergents will damage the hand-painted decor and cause cracking.
- Prevent Thermal Shock: Avoid sudden temperature changes (e.g., pouring hot liquids into a cold vessel).
VeronikaArt Studio Ceramics
- Hand Wash Recommended: To preserve the unique, hand-applied glazes and organic textures, hand-washing with a soft sponge and mild dish soap is best.
- Dishwasher & Microwave Use: Dishwasher safe on a gentle, low-heat cycle, though hand-washing will extend the life of the piece. Avoid microwave use if the piece features delicate glazes, raw textured exteriors, or unglazed footings.
- Prevent Thermal Shock: Like all handcrafted ceramics, avoid sudden, extreme temperature changes (e.g., pouring boiling water directly into an ice-cold mug or placing a hot dish on a cold surface).
Apollo & Cappuccino Cups
- Dishwasher & Microwave Safe: Safe for standard microwave reheating and top-rack dishwashing. Hand-washing is still recommended to prolong the glaze’s lifespan.
- Stain Removal: For coffee or tea buildup, gently scrub with a soft cloth using a paste of baking soda and warm water.
- Handling: Avoid steel wool or harsh scrubbers. Do not pour boiling liquid into an ice-cold cup.
Stone Age Stoneware Cups
- Hand Wash Recommended: High-pressure dishwasher cycles can cause the textured exterior to rub against other dishes, leading to chips or scuff marks.
- Microwave Safe: Safe for short microwave use to warm up drinks.
- Prevent Thermal Shock: Avoid sudden temperature changes. If your home is cold, pre-warm the cup with warm tap water before adding boiling liquids.
Porcelain Mugs
- Washing: Hand wash preferred—especially for hand-painted or gold-trimmed mugs. Rinse coffee and tea right away to prevent tannin staining.
- Stain Cleaning: Use a simple baking soda and water paste for stubborn tea or coffee rings.
- Storage: Leave a small gap between stacked mugs or use felt separators to prevent rim chipping.
Seasonal & Home Decor
Hand-Blown Glass Ornaments
- Indoor Use Only: Display indoors in a secure, draft-free location.
- Handling: Crafted from delicate, thin-walled glass. Handle with care and store in padded boxes during the off-season.
Textiles & Linens
Decorative Pillows
- Pillow Cover: Machine wash cold. Do not bleach. Tumble dry on low. Iron as needed.
- Pillow Insert: Machine wash cold. Tumble dry on low heat. Fluff well after drying to restore shape.
European Linen (Kitchen Towels, Napkins & Placemats)
- Washing: Machine wash in cold or lukewarm water (85–105°F / 30–40°C) with mild detergent.
- Drying: Air-drying flat or hanging on a rack is best. If tumble drying, use low heat and remove while still slightly damp.
- Ironing: For a crisp look, iron on medium-high steam while the fabric is damp. For a relaxed, effortless look, leave un-ironed.
